NPP in-fighting bad for Ghana’s image - Ablakwa
Deputy Education Minister in charge of tertiary institutions, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has appealed to the national council of the opposition New Patriotic Party to speed up efforts at fixing the wrangling that has rocked the party as it “tells negatively on politics in the country."
The Danquah-Busia tradition has been in the news in recent times over an overhaul that is taking place at its communications directorate. Its General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong, claims his life has been threatened over the administrative changes he and the Chairman sought to effect.
Some members of the party believe the Afoko-led administration is deliberately victimising party officers who are perceived to be loyal to the two-time presidential candidate, Akufo-Addo.
Although, the national council of the party has intervened by calling a ceasefire, the North Tongu MP says it’s not enough.
“The first thing that ought to be done is to arrest the perpetrators of that violence. I agree with Arthur K, asking people not to talk on the matter as the national council is doing is not the best way to deal with it. What is clear is that there is the need for a truce in that party immediately.
"It affects all of, it tells negatively on the image of political parties in the country” the former deputy education minister said on Radio Gold’s 'Alhaji and Alhaji' programme on Saturday.
