Ghana is suffering from a “leadership paralysis”, a Financial Analyst has said.

Sydney Casley-Hayford said Saturday that the West African country’s problems and current economic crisis can be put down to nothing but the paralysed leadership of the current president.

“The fact of the matter is we have a paralysis in leadership…we are not able to make the decisions that we need to make in order to change things,” he asserted.

His damning verdict on John Mahama’s leadership comes just days after a renowned motivational speaker and preacher of the International central Gospel Church in the former British colony, Dr Mensa Otabil, described the young oil-producing country as a sinking ship, which needs a "new national leadership response" to rescue it from "disaster".

Ghana has written to the International Monetary Fund for a programme to inspire confidence in her economy, following a rapid depreciation of the country’s currency, the Cedi, against the Dollar and other currencies of international trade.

Describing the situation as “disheartening”, Casely-Hayford said it was befuddling the Mahama administration has not been able to fix the country’s economy despite numerous alarms sounded, and advice offered, by well-meaning Ghanaians.

He told private FM station, Citi, that the government must clearly spell out its short, medium and long term goals toward salvaging the economy of the major cocoa producer from the doldrums.
