Joining Forces For A Healthier Ghana

Dr. David Yaoga Sunu, a resident medical doctor from Urgent Care Hospital in New Achimota led a team of health professionals comprising of two nurses, one pharmacist and two laboratory technicians. The team screened for Hepatitis B, Malaria, Blood Pressure, and blood glucose. Patients who tested negative for Hepatitis B were vaccinated.

However, due to lack of funding only 40 patients out of the 70 patients tested negative were vaccinated. There was a high turnout of Malaria cases and they were all treated. VIM, Inc. and RHAFI representatives used the opportunity to educate community members on malaria and cholera prevention.

There was an impressive turnout of 150 people with age ranging from 2months old to 97years old. Hegakope boasts of a population of over 500 people who are mostly farmers with a few Christians. Rev Dr. Stephen Atta-Poku, the General overseer of Rescue the Perishing Mission and members of the mission shared the good news of the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus with the people.

Some of the volunteers were assigned to go on a door to door evangelism in all the four communities to share the word of God and also inform people about the free screening. At the end of the evangelism many souls were won.

Mr. Charles Ankomah-Darko VIM, Inc. Ghana Country Director says his organization and Rural Health Aid Foundation International (RHAFI) plans on making the health outreach an annual event. He edged all Ghanaians and corporate bodies to support the vision for a healthier Ghana.
