Former president Rawlings, (right) welcomes Bukom Banku to his residence
Former president Jerry John Rawlings and his family on August 7, 2014 presented 20 bags of rice and 10 cartons of frozen chicken to two distinguished junior boxers, Bukom Banku and Ayitey Powers at his ridge residence in Accra.
He also used the occasion to interact with members of the Ghana Boxing Authority who were led by president of the Authority, Mr. Peter Zwennes .
Mr Rawlings’ wife Nana Konadu and two daughters Dr. Zanetor Rawlings and Ms Yaa Asantewa Rawlings were present.
The donation was to commend the two boxers whose fight recently in Accra that created a media frenzy. Mr Rawlings himself was invited to watch the bout.
Bukom Banku arrived dramatically with an army of supporters, wearing a pair of jeans, diamond rings, a chain to match and a white T shirt with a rainbow colors at his chest.
Ayitey Powers would not be left out; he came with few supporters and shook hands with Bukom Banku who defeated him in the bout.
Some personalities present at the ceremony included Mr. Cecil Sunkwa-Mills, General Manager of MultiChoice – Ghana , Madam Ann Sakyi, Marketing and Communications Manager Multichoice -Gtv Ghana
