"Be truthful and honest" - GFA boss cautions journalists

Kwesi Nyantakyi Pink

The President of the Ghana Football Association, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi, has called on all sports journalists in the country to be circumspect and balanced in their reportage regardless of the angle from which they come.

In an address in the Western Region during a seminar organized by the Western Regional Football Association, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi ceased the opportunity to advice sports journalists to be very truthful and honest in carrying out their duties for the betterment of sports in the country.

“There are some of the journalists who do not speak the truth. Maybe he/she might not like someone, so they might lie about him only to tarnish the image of the person. But what they must know is that we have laws in the country. But if somebody decides to get a journalist arrested for false reportage, it will not breed good results”, Kwesi Nyantakyi said.

“There are others too who fail to report the truth if it is connected to someone they like. Because they like such a person they sometimes overemphasize to turn the whole thing into something else. All these things will not help. The extremes of both cases are bad. Journalists must always be circumspect and balanced”, he added.

Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi at the seminar donated GH¢2,000 in addition to 50 footballs for the Western Regional Football Association as a personal gift for the development of the game in the region.
